132. Life and the 90:10 Rule
In truth, Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond. It often seems the other way around but that's just because the 10% shouts louder. You and you alone are in charge of your attitudes.

126. Attitude Poem
One ship drives east and another drives west
With the self-same winds that blow
'Tis the set of the sails
And not the gales
That tells us the way to go.
Like the winds of the sea are the ways of fate
As we voyage along through life
'Tis the set of the soul
That decides the goal
And not the calm or the strife.
- Ella Wheeler Wilcox.

99. Mental Attitude
You have complete right of control at all times over your mental attitude.Only you have this right. Others may and indeed will try to hijack it on you and try to manipulate you for their own purposes, usually to your great disadvantage.Do not permit this.
85. Setting Your Standards
If you don't set a baseline standard for what you'll accept in your life, you'll find it easy to slip into attitudes and behaviours for a quality of life that is far below what you deserve. A good place to start is to list all your values and then sort them by priority. E.g. do you value Love more than Friendship or Wealth etc. ?

14. Attitude vs Conscience
Do not worry so much about examining your conscience as about examining your attitude. Conscience is about guilt which is a destructive, corrosive emotion. Attitude is about how you think about people things and situations. It is about what you say about them. Because "Your attitude determines your altitude.", it is important that you remain upbeat, positive, optimistic and that you operate from a place of good will to all, assuming the best in others unless you are proven wrong. Marcus Aurelius once said : "A person's life is what his thoughts make of it."
