545.Perseverence and Breakthroughs.

Whenever your mind says to you "I'm just not getting this", then you are just about to make a breakthrough and learn something new. At times like this, it is crucial that you DO NOT GIVE UP! Most people give up when their mind tells them discouraging things but these thoughts are actually tell-tales you should read to let you know that a new discovery is just around the corner.

If you persist at times like this, your learning curve steepens and you begin to make profound changes in your knowledge base and you become capable of fundamental paradigm shifts.

458. Do Not Dabble

Do not dabble, that is for ducks. Do not major in minor things. Whenever you pick a subject (make sure it is a worthy one) make a study plan and stick to it until you have mastered the subject. Only then should you move on to the next worthy subject.

398. Execution

Move quickly and decisively and boldly once you have decided on a course of action but do not move at all until you have a very clear set of outcomes an goals fully formed in your mind. Once you have embarked on a course of action do not cease in your efforts until you have achieved your results. Then immediately set about consolidation. i.e. make the most of what you have achieved. Once you have consolidated, begin on a course of gradual organised expansion. Do not over-extend yourself as this will expose your weaknesses to your enemies.

241. Controlling the Imagination.

The Imagination is a wonderful tool of the creative mind. Bear in mind that it is a servant and do not let it become your master. Always retain control over it. Be clear about the distinctions between reality and imagination and between imaginings and imagination. Imagination is always glamorous. It is the movie. Reality is never quite so pretty. Imagination allows you to be creative if it is used properly. When being creative if the mind throws up some fantastic image, do not say "This cannot be done." Rather, you should ask "How can this be done ?"

The ability to distinguish between reality and imagination is the ability to remain sane. If you cannot tell the difference, you are well on the road to madness.

Imagination is what allows you to be a great writer, poet, playwright, artist, sculptor, movie-maker or actor. Reality is the discipline to work through the obstacles to the execution of your imagined ideas. It is the persistence that keeps you at your desk even when you can think of nothing to write. It is the determination to never settle for second-best.

146. Persistence

When tackling a problem, persist in your attack until it is solved. Every problem contains the seeds of its own solution. Just keep looking and you will find them.

137. Stickability

Whatever you take up, stick with it long enough to allow it to work. Stay in the game; dont quit too soon. Do know, however when it is time to quit.

113. On writing

Write something every day - even if it is rubbish. Simply take on the projects you love and then let them go. - Debbie Wiseman, Film composer
