Make it a general rule with yourself not to criticise anybody, even silently in your mind. If there is something wrong, you should first seek clarification of the situation, then after due consideration, put forward what you see as an improvement. Remember that you may not be in full possession of all the facts concerning someone you may be tempted to criticise.
Never engage in put-down behaviour, for how can you learn from or be inspired by someone you despise or in some way do not respect?

550. Verbal Assault
When you are attacked verbally, before walking away, one of the most effective put-downs (if you could be bothered) is to say "That remark says more about you than me." This is because it is the truth. When you judge someone you define yourself as someone who needs to judge.

60. Psychic Vampires
Beware the psychic vampires: “Listen carefully to people’s comments. Don’t accept them at face value, go behind to the intention. Evaluate it. If it comes from a place of black negativity, you may be linked into a psychic vampire. Psychic vampires seek to destroy enthusiasm and energy in others. They are those people who are always putting you down or telling you that you are not good enough. Learn to recognise them. Disengage and don’t let those comments into your head.” - Veronica Canning
